The SolAR System augmented reality (AR) app is an educational tool to learn about the size, structure and scale of our solar system. It allows the viewer to place down an animated 3D model of our planetary system in-front of them and study information about each planet, their relative size, order and rotation. Viewers are taken on a journey where they first learn about our planet and moon, then how it fits into the larger system around us.
AR is a great tool for this as it allows you to place the solar system all around you for an immersive learning experience. This was particularly important for learning about objects that are the size and scale of planets in our solar system. It is much easier to use AR to look around the 3D objects in your room as you learn about them rather than being confined to regular screen display.
This AR app was developed for use on Apple iPads and Android Tablets as the larger screen space was easier to use as a window to look around and explore the 3D world of our solar system.
